Dress Like A Ballerina!
Like most little girls, growing up I always wanted to be a ballerina. I looked up to Karen Kain, read her book cover-to-cover, and no matter how little ballet I actually ended up doing, I always wanted to look the part of a ballerina... and still do! What's not to love? A comfy, sporty feeling with a feminine beautiful look!
How to get the look:
Use lots of pastels like ballet pink, light blue, lilac, soft grey, and cream paired with basic black. Mix stretchy materials like those used in tights, leggings, and leotards, soft flowing materials like tulle, chiffon, and net skirts, dresses, and wraps, and wooly/sweatery leg warmers, wrap tops, and shrugs.
It's all about layering with the ballet look... start with basic leggings and bodysuit or tank, then layer from there with wraps, leg warmers, sweaters, and skirts! Finish it all off with ballet flats and a ballerina bun!
These knit dance must-haves can be worn layered over your bottoms or alone as a compromise between wearing tights and going bare-legged in between seasons.
We all love leggings... wear them with a long sweater, a wrap skirt, a hip wrap like this one, and of course with leg warmers!
Inspired by the leotards, bodysuits are less maintenance than regular tops. Pair them with leggings or a skirt. Alternatively you can us a tank with leggings for a similar look.
Wrap Top or Shrug
Ballet dancers wear ballet sweaters or shrugs, keeping the dancer's back and arms warm. A cropped wrap top is just that and makes for a perfect transitional piece of clothing.
A short or long chiffon wrap skirt over leggings makes for the ultimate ballet look!
Throw an oversize off-the-shoulder sweatshirt, sweater or tee over your tank or bodysuit. Layers are what it's all about!
